enduring dark creeps, pierced by cosmic conjunction, fierce dreams awaken

A hush flows through this windswept wilderness as Earth’s Northern Self turns to embrace the longest night. Darkness creeps slowly, silently across the arroyo hondo shrouding all the scraggly Beings in a formidable abyss of desert sky no longer distinguishable from the ground. As my soles trod the ever darkening dirt path, a familiar weariness rises in my soul. This year of enduring dark and endless lament seems to be affirmed and reflected in the harsh desert abyss revealed before me.

The piercing light of the great conjunction awakens my lamenting soul. These planets on their cyclical journey will not affirm my weary heart for they dance only onward, whirling fierce dreams into the hearts of those who dare to face the darkness. Looking to these spinning spheres who were last seen dancing together in 1226, i am reminded of those dreams long past. Fierce dreams of weary wanderers when it seemed only darkness and lament prevailed. They dreamed of justice, of a flourishing Earth, of a sacredness that dwells among us and within us. It is here in the harsh desert darkness where dreams of transformative power endure. Those who brave the dark, the desert, the wilderness of time and space awaken these fierce dreams.

So on this solstice, dare to dream fiercely, Wild One. May you find the courage to hope for the coming of the light as you wander fiercely the darkened way.

Blessings this Winter Solstice!
